So, what do we wear? Here’s a guide to intentionally planning your outfits, with several picture examples!

  • Color:
    • Think neutrals: beige, brown, cream, khaki, off-white. These are classic choices that go well in almost any environment!
    • Colors that complement your skin tones. Avoid colors that wash you out, create too stark of a contrast, or nudes that match your skin color too closely. I’m happy to help!
    • Add pops of color in more neutral backgrounds (like a red scarf in a gray or snowy landscape), stick to a clean, neutral look in more cluttered backdrops (like a black or white dress in a field of flowers, or a colorful cityscape).
    • Patterns and Texture:
      • Wool, knit, leather, denim — switch the textures up a little bit
      • A few classic patterns like gingham, lace, or simple florals can add an interesting layer to your outfit!
      • Avoid patterns that are overly crowded, have huge logos, or have patterns/lettering that are distracting

    • Dress Comfortable
      • Wear clothes you feel confident and comfortable in! Clothes that fit you well, clothes you can move freely in. Avoid wearing something that needs to be constantly adjusted, taking away from your time and experience
      • Dress for the weather, so you’re not freezing in winter, or overheating in the summer. Layer up in the cold, and consider more flowy skirts, tops, or dresses for the summer
      • Shoes – if you are wearing heels or dress shoes, consider bringing a change of shoes. This helps especially when you are moving in between locations, or your feet need a break!

    • Accessories:
      • Jewelry – details like necklaces, earrings, and rings. Do not forget the engagement ring! This is the time to show it off!
      • In the colder seasons, layers are both necessary for comfort AND add character! Think beanies, scarves, fleece tights (if you’re considering that skirt or dress)
    • Complement one another:
      • No matching your partner — complement them! Choose similar color palettes, and choose styles that make it seem like you’re headed to the same place.

Wear the clothes you love, and you’ll love your photos even more, I promise! I can’t wait to document your love story together.
